Tour Details

We will pick you up early in the morning and start the drive to Cambodia’s second largest city, Battambang. Along the way, we’ll stop and spend some time at Banteay Chhmar temple.

We will then continue to Battambang and explore some temples and caves in the area. We will then start the two hour drive back to Siem Reap.

Banteay Chhmar

Banteay Chhmar is located in Banteay Meanchey province along the way to the Thai border. This huge temple has massive shrines and a large reservoir. It’s one of the most important yet least understood of all the temples in Cambodia. The temple was built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII in the 12th or 13th century.

There are many intricate carvings in the temple. Some depict success and failed military engagements. The bas-reliefs here are very similar to the ones found in Bayon temple.

Battambang is Cambodia’s second largest city and there are many nice places to visit. On this tour we can either come back the same day to Siem Reap, or you can spend a few nights in Battambang and explore further. There are many temples such as Banan Temple sitting on top of Banan Mountain.

There are also caves in the area where you can see thousands of bats fly out when it gets to dusk. We can also show you the killing fields where victims of the Khmer Rouge were put after they had been killed.
